The MTIE Board Office is pleased to present our 2020-2021 Board Office Report. Copies of this report have been distributed to community members in the mail. Many thanks to Camille Fouillard for all her hard work in putting this report together, and to all the board staff for their ongoing contributions to the education of our Innu children.
We are all worried about COVID-19. So far, our Innu communities have done a tremendous job of keeping our families safe. At MTIE, we hope to reassure parents and guardians that we have measures in place that are designed to protect Innu students and all school staff members.
MTIE will closely follow all measures laid out by Public Health officials, such as those featured in the above graphic. However, the Christmas season will soon be here. We all know that COVID-19 can only be spread by people who gather together. When sick people travel, they bring the virus with them. Everyone hopes this won't happen, but if it does MTIE has a plan in place.
If schools close due to COVID-19, MTIE may initiate the following measures:
A) Partial school closure with rotational classes. A schedule will be provided if this occurs. OR,
B) Full school closure with online instruction.
If schools close fully and online instruction begins, all students who are REGISTERED and/or CURRENTLY ATTENDING one of our 2 Innu schools will be provided with a laptop OR iPad to take home. Conditions on the use of the take-home technology will be in place, and agreed upon before being sent home.
NOTE: Some teachers MAY prepare take-home packages of classroom material for students.
Thank you for your understanding. Please STAY SAFE!
We have lost another one of our MTIE board members, Bart Jack Sr. (pictured above, second from right) Bart was a long standing co-chair of our board of trustees who worked very hard for the betterment of education. He brought a wealth of knowledge to education and was a strong voice on our Board. He always encouraged us to do better and keep educating our Innu children. He would often email or call when he heard of Innu graduates, whether it was a high school or post secondary student. He was very proud to be Innu and to represent the Innu. He would often say "Innu running Innu affairs is the only way to go". He always had the best interests of all students in mind and wanted them to pursue their education. His leadership will be missed by all. We at MTIE are thinking of his family.
MTIE is thrilled to announce a HUGE donation from BBA Engineering and Hagerty-Penashue Holdings! A donation of $20,000 has been gifted to our school board office for the purposes of purchasing laptops and/or iPads for our schools. Many, many thanks!

MTIE is pleased to announce that our program specialists, Barb Butler and Robert Swyer, have added a few learning resources and links to educational sites here. These links are intended to offer some educational ideas for parents during the current COVID-19 related suspension of classes.
Thanks to the hard work of our program specialists, these links will be available on our school Facebook pages as well. Additional links may be added from time to time during this closure. Happy learning!
